Here We Go — Halloween Season Is Officially On!

Here we are: September 1, and already my brain is full of cobwebs, cauldrons, and costume ideas. I can’t help it — Halloween is my Super Bowl. Every year I host an epic Halloween party at my house. It’s always a costume party, and while there are always one or two brave souls who show up without so much as a witch’s hat, let’s be real: if your host asks you to come dressed up, it’s a good idea to do it!

The best part? These days, there’s no excuse. You can create a costume for next to no money at the dollar store and still look amazing. A black cape, a touch of makeup, and a little imagination can go a long way.

When I decorate, I go all in — every room gets a little love. From a tiny fake rat in the bathroom corner to the Bath & Body Works soap that looks like vampire blood, every decoration counts. I want guests to feel like they’ve stepped into another world, even just for a few hours.

I get so excited this time of year because Halloween is a chance to be somebody other than yourself. It’s pure playtime for adults — a little magic, a little mystery, and a lot of fun. This year, I’m thinking my husband and I might dress up as characters from Moana, so I’m already scouring Temu and Amazon for the best deal on costumes. (Yes, I take this very seriously!)

Halloween gives us permission to be kids again. To laugh, play, pretend, and reconnect with friends over something that feels completely separate from our day-to-day grind. And when it comes to timing, here’s my little trick: I never schedule my party on the 31st. Between work, kids, and trick-or-treating, it’s just too much. This year, my party will be on Saturday, October 25 — far enough away from the big night so no one feels pulled in two directions, and early enough to still build that festive anticipation.

So here’s my challenge to you: tap into your inner child. Say yes to the costume. Add the silly hand soap. Lean all the way in — because Halloween isn’t just for the kids. It’s for all of us who still believe in a little magic.
